Farewell Italy!

 Lilly Prestemon

Wow, this trip has been truly amazing and I can’t believe it’s already come to an end. We started this trip in Venice and got to see all the amazing things the city has to offer. We got to take boats on the canals and view the historic buildings that make up the city. It was so incredible to see and hear about the history of the city, especially how it was built. I can’t even comprehend how the idea of the city was thought up, but I’m so glad I got to experience a place that is so truly unique!

Next we went to Orvieto, which was also and amazing experience. I loved the beautiful city on a hill. Orvieto had so many things to do and was so full of beauty. I think Orvieto might just be my favorite place we visited! Also seeing the underground tunnels was so interesting, we got to learn how the city was built and see all the artifacts they’ve found of ancient societies!

Next on our trip we went to the beautiful city of Fontecchio. This city had not only amazing views, but also an amazing community. Our guide, Alessio, is from Fontecchio. It was so amazing that he could show us the town he loves so much and the community which resides there. Getting to see and explore the town and experience annual bonfire which takes place there was an experience I’ll never forget. Alessio was an amazing guide and I’m so glad I got to experience a few days in his home town!

After Fontecchio, we ventured on our free days, which I spent in Florence. Florence was truly such a beautiful and unique city. The museums there are incredible; I loved seeing all the beautiful art! I also enjoyed just spending time walking around the city. Florence was full of diverse people of all types of backgrounds. We met some really cool people there and just had an overall blast!

After Florence was the Amalfi coast. This is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. I have never seen such spectacular views and coastline. This place was truly one of a kind.

We then ended our trip in Rome! Rome was a very cool experience. I would not say that I love big cities, but Rome might just be an exception. I love seeing all the amazing history here. I’ve never seen so many churches and cathedrals in my life, and each one was beautiful! We got to see the Vatican and College um which were incredible! This was truly such an amazing place to end our trip.

This trip, as I expected, was beyond my wildest dreams! I had so much hope this would be an amazing trip and it was! I knew the food would be delicious, but it was even better than I thought it would be. Italians in general were so kind and welcoming which really made this trip even better. The friends I have made will be friends for life, and for that I am incredibly grateful. The people and place of this trip were amazing. I’m so happy I was able to come. Thank you all for everything!
